Interstellar Review & Analysis
Amount Of Times Watched (in theaters): 2
Written By: Ella Collins

No amount of words or phrases can even begin to describe the masterpiece that is Interstellar. I have seen this film several times before watching it in theaters but let me just say it is an indescribable feeling getting the chance to watch this in the theater, in IMAX nonetheless. I truly felt transported. Interstellar pushes our views as well as our thoughts beyond time and space and out as far as other dimensions. It allows us to go beyond the limit of our knowledge regarding space and time and travelling through them and to think deeper than just what is on our own planet. You just have to be willing to look up at the sky and wander and be willing to explore.

Interstellar tells not only of the concept but the beauty of cross dimensional time travel. Cooper is tasked with leading a team through a wormhole into another dimension in order to be able to find a new home for everyone on Earth since it is slowly but surely becoming inhabitable. His daughter Murphy Cooper helps him along this journey of discovery. Some of this help is in ways they both do not even realize until years later. Time is something many wish to have more of, especially those that fear they have less of it. Cooper, along with his colleagues race against time in order to not only change the fate of their families but of the entire world.

This movie is beautiful in so many ways but an important part of its beauty, I feel, does not come from the cinematography or the score but rather the deeper aspect it has. Love and hope are two of the strongest connections between humans. Without the love between a father and his daughter as well as the hope they both had in saving the people on a slowly deteriorating Earth none of them would have been able to come as far as they did. The love one man has for his family and the hope he has for humanity saved the people on Earth. Love is the reason Cooper left and love is what brought him home.  Throughout the movie it is shown that when two people who share a special love are unable to communicate physically, that love allows them to speak to each other, even across two different dimensions.

The cinematography is stunning and the score will truly make you feel timeless. This special connection between Cooper and Murphy is undeniable and beautiful to watch. This movie has a powerful yet special message that love knows no bounds and even though we as humans do not completely understand it is within all of us in some form or another. That connection to the one(s) we love as well as the hope we have for a better future is what kept Cooper alive and is what what keeps us alive as well as motivated. Even when the rest of the world has given up and became narrow minded Cooper never did because hope was always present within him. All it takes is one person to care and to take charge. McConaughey is exceptional in this role. I enjoyed every second of it. It could have been seven hours and I  would have sat, watched, and enjoyed every second of it. This film holds a special place within me because it reminds us that rather than looking down and accepting what we are down here we need to look up and see what more we could be. This is a movie everyone should watch once in their lifetime and then watch again just in case you missed anything the first time.
